Members of the DEG are recruited from among experienced subject-area experts, who are delegated by their companies to address the topic of ECLASS, and who are themselves active in the areas of smart manufacturing and/or the internet of things (IoT).
The Industrial Digital Twin Association e.V. (IDTA) was founded in September 2020 as an initiative of 23 organisations from the electrical and digital industry, mechanical engineering, the software sector, component manufacturers and Original Equipment Manufacturers. As a coordinator on the topic of the Digital Twin, IDTA offers users from all industrial sectors to advance technology development based on the Asset Administration Shell (AAS). The aim is to establish the Digital Twin as an open-source technology for the interoperability of components and to jointly develop it within the industry.

Wien Energie is an energy supplier in Austria headquartered in Vienna. The company is one of the largest electricity and gas suppliers with approximately 2 million customers in Vienna and the surrounding area. Wien Energie aims at driving the energy turnaround in the region, focusing on renewable energies such as wind power, photovoltaics and biomass.
Thanks to the successful “Material Master Data Cleansing” project, Wien Energie improved the material master data quality. Errors were corrected, missing data added and duplicates removed. In addition, the ECLASS classification standard was introduced. Processes to maintain the quality of the data obtained were integrated.
Success-Story: Diehl Defence
Diehl Defence supplies high-tech equipment for defence. With the development and production of guided missiles and ammunition for the army, air force and navy, the company is one of the technology leaders in the global market. A new feature is the range of modern system solutions for ground-based air defence. Innovative solutions in the areas of reconnaissance, surveillance, training and protection round off the product range.
With the support of the experts from D&TS GmbH, Diehl Defence improved the level of standardization and data quality at three locations (Überlingen, Rötenbach, Ingelfingen) over the course of a year through data cleansing, the introduction of the international data standard ECLASS and the implementation of MDM solutions.
