About the customer
Wien Energie is an energy supplier in Austria headquartered in Vienna. The company is one of the largest electricity and gas suppliers with approximately 2 million customers in Vienna and the surrounding area.
Initial situation and challenge
Wien Energie had problems with insufficient data quality for stock materials, which meant that software for the automatic generation of material short texts could not be used effectively. This led to difficulties in finding spare parts and a high effort when changing products or contractors. To overcome these challenges despite limited resources, the company sought a solution to comprehensively cleanse its material master data and automate data-driven processes.
Result
The successful Material Master Data Cleansing project enabled Wien Energie to improve the quality of its material master data. D&TS used various procedures to correct erroneous and enrich incomplete data, created uniform naming and removed duplicates. This high-quality data now forms the basis for automatic material short text generation and is permanently guaranteed by D&TS’ ticket system. D&TS also handles classification according to ECLASS and fills in missing product information by liaising directly with contractors and manufacturers to ensure that all materials are correctly classified. This enables optimized, data-driven processes and efficient use of internal resources.
