Users of the ECLASS standard can choose between a version with one-dimensional feature bars (ECLASS BASIC) and a version with multidimensional feature structures (ECLASS ADVANCED). Both are based on the same ISO-compliant data model. While ECLASS BASIC is often used in purchasing, sales or controlling, ECLASS ADVANCED is mainly used in engineering and in CAx applications. ECLASS ADVANCED offers precise structuring of product data, which is vitally important for engineers, designers and users of computer-aided engineering (CAE) and computer-aided design (CAD). By classifying and describing products in a uniform way, it enables efficient collaboration and the seamless exchange of data between different engineering tools and systems.
ECLASS ADVANCED provides a multidimensional feature structure that allows mapping of complex technical information. In contrast to the flat structure of ECLASS BASIC, in ECLASS ADVANCED the functions are grouped accordingly. Features for product description can be presented in a structured way using blocks and aspects. Dynamic adaptations of the description structure to the requirements of the product to be described become possible by cardinalities and polymorphisms. ECLASS ADVANCED contains all structural elements of ECLASS BASIC. The extended version supports XML and JSON formats for data exchange.
You export your material and product master data (XLS, CSV, BMEcat, JSON, etc.) and make them available to us.
We prepare your data for the next steps. In ClassCOCKPIT Classification and Smart Data, your data is collected centrally (single point of truth) and processed further, with direct interfaces and import formats to the end systems.
We find the right ECLASS classes for your products.
We map your features to the ECLASS feature lists and extend them.
We create different versions of the ECLASS classification standard and support you in product variant classification.
You receive the finished classification in your preferred formats for seamless integration into your systems (PIM, ERP, PDM, CAE, etc.) to extract data from the PIM and publish it on your online shop, platforms and marketplaces. In addition, we offer data for the “Digital Twin Server” (AAS).
To use ECLASS ADVANCED for the Asset Administration Shell (AAS), companies can integrate the standardized classification schemes and feature structures of ECLASS ADVANCED into the AAS models and interfaces. This integration allows them to map consistent and structured product information in the AAS, improving interoperability and efficiency in asset management.
Would you like to position your product data perfectly in the EPLAN Data Portal? As an official EPLAN partner, D&TS supports you in preparing your product information in accordance with the EPLAN Data Standard (EDS). We classify your data according to ECLASS ADVANCED and add the important information for the EDS standard. We then make these available as BMEcat for download to the portal. Thanks to our expertise, we ensure smooth integration of your data and maximize the visibility of your products in the EPLAN Data Portal. Contact us today to optimize your product data for effective presentation and improved findability.
